ASA is honored to be entrusted with a landowner’s conservation vision for their land. And since conservation easements are forever, we take this responsibility seriously.
ASA, like every easement holder, is required to ensure that any activity on a protected property is consistent with the terms of the agreement. We conduct annual site visits to monitor every conserved property in our portfolio.
We also work closely with our easement landowners, whom we consider our partners in conservation. We’re on hand to answer land management questions and help with any notice or approval process that may be required for certain activities.
Every easement we accept must entail funds, held in escrow, to defend and if necessary enforce an easement in perpetuity. The funding is provided through donations and grants. To make a donation to ASA’s stewardship fund, please call 518-692-7285, or click here to donate online.
