'Roots So Deep' Film Screening and Panel Discussion
Date: April 24, 2025
Time: 6:30-9PM
Place: Emerson Auditorium, Palamountain Hall at Skidmore College
Address: Perimeter Rd, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866

Join us at the Emerson Auditorium at Skidmore College on Thursday, April 24 from 6:30-9pm for a screening of the film "Roots So Deep" followed by a lively panel discussion featuring local farmers whose grazing systems matter to our food supply, the health of the land, and more widespread ecological resiliency.

"Roots So Deep" is a documentary series which features inventive farmers and maverick scientists building a path to solving climate change with hooves, heart and soil.

It's an inspiring, positive, data-driven, human, and good-humored film about Adaptive Multi Paddock grazing (regenerative agriculture), and its beneficial impacts.

The film dives into a regenerative model of agriculture that supports soil health and with it the vitality of ecosystems, comparatively studying traditional and regenerative grazing systems using science and experimentation, asking if a novel way to graze cattle that mimics the way bison once roamed the land can restore our depleted soils, rebuild wildlife habitat and draw down huge amounts of carbon.

Can cattle help save us from catastrophic climate change?

Our Panelists:

  • John Moore, Farmer & Owner of St. Croix Farm in Schaghticoke
  • Elizabeth Collins, Farmer & Owner of Otter Creek Farm in Pittstown
  • Alex Lempka, Executive chef of Hamlet & Ghost in Saratoga Springs
